Super Second Grader!
I'm so pretty

Sammy's Raptor Romp at Elementary school.
She is in the middle row on the end.

Diamond Valley

View to the North

Standing on the top rim looking down into the bowl of the volcano.

The little pink spot you can see is the three of us. Ryan was standing up at the top just above us looking down.

Our view from the bush. I was counting on the bush to hold the three of us up until Ryan got back.

Sammy at about the 2/3 point. It's hard to tell how high up we really are but if you look in the background you can see how far off and small the road looks.

Yes, We are Crazy!

So, our kids have been wanting to climb to the top of the big volcano between snow canyon and Diamond Valley. We decided to give it a try last night for our Family Home Evening fun. It was VERY INTERESTING!! haha! The kids and I made it about 2/3 of the way up, with Ryan carrying Andrew the whole way and me helping Sammy. By the time we got that far both kids were crying and wanting to go home. So the two kids and I found a secure spot behind some sage brush and sat and waited for Ryan to finish the hike to the top (we'd been going about 25 mins to this point and in 4 mins. he finished the rest of it!). He took some video and pictures and walked all around the top. He was probably gone about 25 mins or so and we were on the north side of the volcano in total shade and the kids were freezing and crying but there was no way I could help both of them and myself down. So we waited for Ryan to come back and get us. He took Sammy part way then came back for Andrew and carried him all the way down and I helped Sammy the rest of the way. I guess if we were smart parents we would have made the trek ourselves without the kids to see if they could make it. Then we could have BOTH gone all the way and not even have attempted to take the kids! Anyway, it was fun and overall the kids had fun. I was bummed that I didn't get to go all the way but we'll probably do it again without the kids sometime.

This is our oldest child Samantha, better known as Sammy. She just turned 7 the end of Aug. and is VERY tall for her age! She is about the average size for a 10 year old girl, according to the growth charts. These are some of the pictures from her bithday party. Sammy is in second grade and is loved by her teacher and classmates. She has lots of friends and loves to be playing and on the go! She doesn't like to be still for long and doesn't spend much time watching tv.

Andrew just went on a field trip to the farm with his preschool class yesterday and had a TON of fun! They got to see and pet a bunch of animals, take a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch, have a ride on the little train, slide on the corn slide, swing, and lots of other fun things!

This is Andrew. He is the baby and just turned 4 in July. He is a typical boy and likes to fight and play army and guns and trucks and all those fun boy things but he does NOT like to be dirty! Especially his hands! If we are eating something that he needs to hold, like a sandwich, and stuff is falling off on his hands then he would rather just not eat. He has a cow if his hands are sticky and he can't wash them immediately!

Well here we are. The Burch family. I don't know that I will do good at keeping a blog updated but we'll see. I have a lot of fun checking my sister's and niece's so maybe I will do it!

This picture was taken last November. It is the most recent family one I could find that has all of us in it. I usually try to make it a habit of being the one to take the pictures so I don't have to be in them!
